Description
This is a 1795 FLOWING HAIR SILVER DOLLAR, B-2, BB-20, PCGS VF-30, CAC APPROVED-PERFECT! Having specialized in early dollars for almost 35 years, it is hard for us to get too excited about the appearance of a circulated 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar. As a B-2, BB-20, this is also not a rare die marriage. But, that’s where the “ordinary” aspects of this coin stop. Locating an absolutely PERFECT circulated specimen of any Small Eagle Bust Dollar is no easy task. Furthermore, locating an example that is capable of garnering a CAC sticker is trickier yet. Let’s for a second forget about all of these facts, and review Dave Bowers’ comments in his quintessential book Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States-A Comprehensive Encyclopedia. Bowers opines, “For reasons unknown today, most are in the range of Fine rather than VF. For every situation there is an explanation, and perhaps someday it will be learned. Probably the manner of distribution had something to do with it; examples of 1795 BB-20 were used widely in the channels of commerce, rather than store by banks or bullion brokers. The variety is typically encountered in lower grades but is rare above EF.” Out of a VF-30 population of just 92 coins graded at PCGS, a mere 13 have been awarded a CAC sticker. This encompasses all die marriages of the Two Leaves variety. Trying to find comparable coins with actual Auction Prices Realized can prove difficult, especially when considering the die marriage. That aside, the put-back potential of a coin like this can not be overemphasized. These were not common 35 years ago, and are even less-so today! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
