This is a 1863 MOTTO SEATED DOLLAR, J-346, TRANSITIONAL PATTERN, PCGS PR-65 RB CAC, RATTLER! An amazing coin fresh out of an Ohio estate, this RARE pattern has not seen the light of day in several decades. An R-7 pattern with an estimated 7-12 pieces known, this dollar is struck in copper with a reeded edge, and combines the obverse of an 1863 Dollar with a Motto Seated Dollar reverse. The “with Motto” reverse did not officially take effect until 1866.
Housed in a first generation PCGS Rattler Holder, this coin is a Gem+ example in all regards. Unblemished and unimpaired gem surfaces have more red color than brown. The fields are reflective and prooflike with strong underlying mirrors. Spots are very, very minimal (far less so than one higher graded example that sold in auction and was heavily fingerprinted). A truly special coin for the dollar specialist, the advanced pattern collector, or the investor looking for an item that no one else will own! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
