The Reeded Edge recently purchased an immense U.S. stamp collection from an advanced lifetime collector. The collection spanned classics to commemoratives with extensive back-of-the-book also represented. Today’s offering will include selections from this collection. With that said this is a ca. 1890s BATTERED SCOTT INTERNATIONAL ALBUM, HUNDREDS OF EARLY USED STAMPS HINGED/PAGES. THIS IS A VERY OLD ALBUM (ONE OF THE OLDEST THAT WE HAVE EVER SEEN OR HANDLED), AND NO STAMP IS DATED LATER THAN 1890s. THE PAGES ARE FRAGILE, AND MANY OF THE STAMPS ARE FAULTY, BUT THERE ARE SOUND STAMPS, AS WELL. WE ARE CONSERVATIVELY GUESSING CATALOG VALUE TO BE NORTH OF $1000, BUT THAT IS ONLY OUR BEST GUESS. WE HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED MANY OF THE PAGES CONTAINING STAMPS, BUT NOT ALL. AS USUAL, THERE WILL PROBABLY BE A FEW SURPRISES. THIS REALLY IS A TIME CAPSULE, GIVING US A SNAPSHOT ON HOW STAMP COLLECTIONS WERE ASSEMBLED 1 1/4 CETURIES AGO!
