Description
This is a 1800 $5 DRAPED BUST GOLD HALF EAGLE – PCGS XF-40, RATTLER, AMAZING! SUPER PQ! This piece is reflective of a different period of numismatics, when grading was not just conservative, but at times brutal! Beautiful, ORIGINAL medium-gold with deeper orange highlights on the reverse, this piece is brimming with original luster, especially pronounced in the protected areas. Small abrasions and light contact marks along with some minor handling in the fields are all consistent with the light circulation that this coin probably saw. There is nothing visually distracting-conversely, the coin is very wholesome and attractive. This is the type of quality that today would grade AU-53 or possibly AU-55…but never XF. When do you ever see early U.S. gold still housed in a Generation 1 rattler holder? Here is one that escaped the coin doctors and the upgraders, and is presented in all of it’s former glory; Don’t let it get away! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
