Description
This is a 1839 LG LET HEAD OF 38 $10 LIBERTY GOLD EAGLE, NGC AU-55 RARE! LOW MINTAGE COIN! An underrated and very tough $10 Liberty issue that is truly a distinct U.S. Type Coin from other No Motto $10 Liberties. The obverse of 1838 and 1839 $10s has a much heavier curved bust line, a far left shifted date and pronounced hair curls over the ear that are missing on all later $10 Liberties. From an original mintage of just 25,801 examples, these early gold coins saw very heavy use, making most survivors VF-XF, with AU coins very rare, and uncirculated specimens nearly nonexistent. This specimen, graded AU-55, has medium gold coloration with somewhat reflective surfaces and a pleasing “honest” look. Considering Mint State specimens, if found, will run $25,000 or even more, this pleasant mid-AU example represents outstanding value for the money. Opportunity knocks! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
