Description
This is a 1841-C $5 LIBERTY NO MOTTO GOLD HALF EAGLE – PCGS XF-45, LOW MINTAGE CHARLOTTE, NICE! A tough coin from the early days of the southern Charlotte, North Carolina Mint. Just 21,467 pieces were struck, with most seeing extensive circulation. Mint State examples are virtually unknown with likely under 10 in existence. The present example, conservatively graded XF-45, is well and evenly struck with areas of retained luster, bold hair and feather detail and visible star denticles. Unlike many pieces of Southern Branch Mint Gold, there are no intrusive marks, scratches or other abrasions of note. In our estimation it faces up more like an AU and is an outstanding value compared to a $25,000+ Mint State specimen. Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
