Description
This is a 1855 $10 LIBERTY GOLD EAGLE – PCGS MS-62, SUPER LUSTROUS & FRESH! SCARCE! An extremely attractive No Motto $10 with medium to deeper gold coloration and creamy, rolling luster. The strike is strong and crisp and the imperfections are trivial for a coin graded MS-62. Very attractive overall. PCGS estimates that just 15 or so coin survive in MS-60 or better condition, although the population is slightly more than that (however, population figures can be skewed high by resubmissions of the same coins). The MS-62 population at PCGS is just 7 coins, with only a single MS-63, a single MS-63+ and 3 MS-64 coins. PCGS has never graded a GEM 1855 $10. PCGS suggests a retail price of $13,000, and considering an MS-63 would likely be a $30,000+ coin, this seems like an appropriate “value grade”.
