Description
This is a 1858-O $20 LIBERTY GOLD DOUBLE EAGLE – PCGS XF-45, RARE! APPROX 300 KNOWN! A rare early New Orleans Type 1 $20 Gold Piece with an original mintage of just 35,250 pieces and an estimated survival of only around 300 coins. Original reddish gold surfaces with hints of original prooflike luster remaining, this has a strong O mintmark and better hair detail than most examples of the date. Typical scattered abrasions add character but nothing that is out of the ordinary for a date that comes typically very heavily abraded. PCGS Price Guide suggests a value of $18,000 and higher grade examples quickly exceed 20 or even 30k. This one seems like a mix of quality and value. Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
