Description
This is a 1870-CC SEATED LIBERTY HALF DOLLAR – PCGS XF-45, RARE DATE! PQ! PERFECT XF! CARSON CITY! From the first year of the Carson City Mint. Only 54,617 Half Dollars were struck in the first year at Carson City and it is estimated that only about 200 pieces survived in all grades. This makes it one of the toughest Seated Half Dollars, with additional collecting pressure from Carson City Mint collectors and collectors of first-year mint issues. Just 8 coins are graded at this level by PCGS with only 11 in ALL AU grades and just a couple of Mint State pieces known with no Gems. Medium grey and well-struck with strong details and a very pleasing overall appearance, this Carson City Half would present well in any advanced collection. PCGS Price Guide suggests a retail price of $25,000, and we can find no PCGS sales records in 6 years. We do not expect this one to last!
