Description
This is a 1871 $20 LIBERTY GOLD DOUBLE EAGLE – PCGS AU-58, RARE DATE! PQ, VIRTUALLY UNC! A really, really tough early Type 2 $20 Liberty Gold. From an original mintage of just 80,120, few high grade examples survive today, with an estimate of just about 20 in Uncirculated condition. This specimen, conservatively graded AU-58 by PCGS, displays brilliant cartwheel luster and attractive medium gold color. It is our opinion, that although PCGS deemed this piece AU-58, that the coin truly never circulated. We believe the coin just has numerous scattered contact marks, but no true “circulation.” With a suggested PCGS Price Guide of $11,500 and PCGS Mint State examples trending toward $20,000 or more, this one seems like outstanding value! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
