Description
This is a 1879-CC $1 MORGAN DOLLAR, CAPPED DIE, PCGS AU-53, WHITE & SEMI PL-NICE EXAMPLE! There have been several sub-$3000 AU-53 examples of this date that have sold in auction over the last two years that lacked in eye appeal, had a deficient strike, or both. Although this coin is not 100% fully struck (and virtually no “Capped Die” variety 1879-CC ever is), it is far better than average. In addition, the obverse and reverse surfaces are both reflective, indicating that this example was probably prooflike when it was struck. Only smaller marks and scratches limit the technical grade, none of which are obtrusive. Overall, this is a well above average example of an 1879-CC Capped Die Morgan Dollar, and this piece should integrate well into a mint state set without spending $6000+! Our commitment is to provide you with quality coins and collectibles at the best possible prices. This piece is no exception. Please note, the coin and collectibles markets do fluctuate, and prices occasionally will change. In this rare circumstance, we will contact you first to verify your order.
