A really neat Mint Error during the transition of the 2021 coinage from the Type 1 to Type 2 reverses. These business strike 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles have a bold W Mint Mark, indicating that they were actually struck with the unfinished proof dies intended for the West Point Mint proof gold coins of that year. Only a few thousand were believed to have been struck before this error was caught. A really neat and dramatic gold error.
